Sharing Christ with Others, Bardo Montelengo |
|
As I look back at my two and a half years as a brother meeting with of the local churches, enjoying the ministry of brother Witness Lee, I can’t help but thank the Lord He brought me here. Ever since I came in contact with the brothers and sisters while studying at the University of Texas at Austin, I have been enjoying the bountiful, rich supply of Christ through the fellowship with the brothers and sisters of the local church and through the ministry of our dear brother Lee.
I first met with the believers in the local church in Austin at the beginning of my fifth semester in college. I had just received the Lord a month before starting that semester and I was baptized approximately a week and a half before returning to Austin. My salvation experience was not that extraodinary. It is sufficient to say that I was a twenty-one year old man who had everything, yet nothing. I had everything a young man could ask for, but I just felt empty. So one night in bed, I prayed to God to fill my emptiness. Needless to say, He did. So, when I began that semester, I was hungry for God’s word and hungry for some Christian fellowship. It was natural for me that after meeting the brothers I would begin meeting with them to study the Bible on campus. I can still remember vividly those times. Every single time I left those appointments I was supplied and my inward being was refreshed. When I left these times, I felt an inward satisfaction with and in Christ which I had never felt before. In addition, every time I met with them my inward hunger for the truth increased. Eventually, since I was enjoying such a rich flow of life by getting together with the brothers and reading the Bible, I began to overflow, that is, to speak my enjoyment of Christ in the Word to others. Specifically, I began to share with my best friend who at the time was also one of my apartment mates. Eventually, through my speaking, my change in life and above all the Lord’s mercy, he got saved. I also began to share with my mother and she too was very receptive it and she recently got baptized. Hallelujah for this rich life we are enjoying.
My experience with the brothers and sisters meeting with the local church has been a blessing. My enjoyment of the Lord has increased a little more everyday, my hunger is greater than ever, and my love for the Lord is sweeter than ever. It is truly a blessing to have found such a blessed place and to be nourished by such a ministry. |
